To commemorate the establishment of the first successful English settlement in the New World, Christopher Newport University organized a special Quadricentennial Series titled "Points of Contact and Culture: Jamestown, 1607-2007." This varied and interdisciplinary series provided an opportunity for scholars, students and interested residents of our community to come together to gain a fuller understanding of the important events and legacies of the Jamestown colony.

Through lectures, concerts and theatrical performances, focusing on European, Native American and African cultures, audiences experienced a more complete understanding of the traditions and values possessed during the age of contact.
